Quiksilver Spring Suit: The Limited Edition Cell
This past weekend I got my hands on two Limited Edition Quiksilver Cell Spring suits thanks to a good friend at Quiksilver. I have been using a really old and crappy spring suit all summer, and it feels great to be in some brand new ones. They are both 2/2 springs suits, but one has long arms. I have used a 3/2 Cell full suit for over a year now and I love it, so I was hoping for a similar feeling in these two new spring suits. I got just what I expected out of them. I have been surfing everyday for 2 weeks in a row wearing the new wetsuits and I don’t have any complaints. I wore the long sleeve suit one day for 3 hours in the morning, got a bite to eat, and then 4 hours that afternoon. If I had been wearing my old spring suit I would have had armpit and neck rashes for sure after having it on for that long.
The Quiksilver Cell spring suit features a 2mm 1-panel Hyperstretch body and underarm, 2mm Hyperstretch arms, 2mm Vapor Stretch mesh chest and back, GBS (triple glued and blind stitched), LFS seams (Liquid Flex Seal), Hydrowrap adjustable neck closure with Glideskin neck seal, Hydroshield pullover water barrier, and a YKK short back zip. I put all of that info on there just in case some of you know what all that means. For the most part, I don’t…it was just on the tag with the wetsuit. What I do know is that the wetsuit is very comfortable, stretchy, and keeps you plenty warm for summertime California surf (65-75 degree water temps). It runs for about $150 in most stores and online, a price that is a little high, but worth it. I have used a lot of cheap wetsuits, and a few really nice ones and it is so much better to spend a little extra and have a high quality wetsuit. For another good spring wetsuit choice, check out this post on the Rip Curl Core Spring Wetsuit. I’ve used this one as well and it was equally as satisfactory as the two Quiksilver ones I just got.
