Osiris Out of Order Surf MovieIf you want to see a pretty unique surf movie, and you have a lot of time, then the Osiris “Out of Order: The Surfer’s Documentary” is a good surf film for you to check out. First things first, it is really long. About a full hour and a half. The surfing is pretty good, but nothing spectacular. What I liked best about it was the amount of locations they visited and talked about. It helps you see what kind of places are out there and can help you plan your own surf trips. This surf film takes you from Australia, Indonesia, Japan, and Tahiti, to Mexico, Costa Rica, Maui, California, and the North Shore. Every surf spot is given a large amount of time to show you the breaks and discuss what it was like for the surfers in that location. The music in the film is all instrumental beats that really draw you into the surfing. Overall, it definitely is not my favorite surf movie, and I think it portrays surfers as being just like the ones in the film, which isn’t very accurate. On a more positive note, in the beginning of the film Jay Adams is interviewed and you get to see him surfing on the North Shore. He’s not in too many movies, but is a legend in the sport so it’s pretty cool to see him in this surf movie. Something extremely unique to this surf film is that they built a floating rail to do rail slides on their surfboards while in Maui. Definitely not something that will catch on in the sport, but entertaining to see them make that first attempt.
